Our past, present and future

The pharmacy that is now Lewis Pharmacy was founded in 1935 by Harry Stocker. It was called Stockers Chemist until Martyn and Jackie Lewis took over in July 2000 and changed the name to Lewis Pharmacy. Moving the business from 121 Exeter Road to new premises at 70 Exeter Road in 2010, Martyn and Jackie continue to uphold the excellent level of patient care that was started by Harry all those years ago.

We are committed to provide the best possible care for our patients and this is shown in the growth of the business, the breadth of innovative services and the awards and national recognition we have been delighted to receive.

We pride ourselves on providing a personalised, welcoming service for all our patients and will continue to work hard to support the Exmouth community for many years to come.

Cancer care in the community

Jackie has pursued her special interest to help community pharmacies identify and support patients with cancer.

She has created ‘Let’s Communicate Cancer’ which is a comprehensive training package for the whole pharmacy team. Let’s Communicate Cancer has achieved national accreditation and the NHS use this as part of the training requirements for all community pharmacy staff.

She has also designed and developed a service called ‘Not Normal for You’ to help pharmacy staff identify early stages of cancer in patients and there’s no doubt her work has helped thousands of people throughout the UK.
